Proceeds of the Bourbon Selvedge Denim Jacket to benefit Stop AAPI Hate
NEW YORK, May 13, 2021 – Today, Legent®, a first-of-its-kind super premium bourbon known for melding Kentucky distilling tradition with Japanese blending expertise, announces the re-release of its previously sold out denim jacket crafted in collaboration with globally celebrated American fashion designer Todd Snyder. Both Legent and Snyder, known to draw inspiration from Japanese craftsmanship and Asian influences for their products, together condemn the increased xenophobia and bigotry which the AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) community continues to face.
In honor of AAPI Heritage Month, which began on May 1, Legent and Todd Snyder will donate 50% of proceeds from every jacket crafted to Stop AAPI Hate, a national coalition addressing anti-Asian racism across the U.S. The limited-edition Bourbon Selvedge Denim Jacket, which first debuted in October 2020 and sold out in under 12 hours, will be available starting today, Thursday, May 13, 2021, for a limited time on ToddSnyder.com for $398 USD. For the ultimate bourbon-enthusiast, a special limited-edition bundle with a bottle of Legent bourbon will be released on luxury wine and spirits e-commerce platform ReserveBar.com for $448 USD.
“For this special edition of my signature Dylan Jacket, we brought together the best in Japanese denim and American craftsmanship, in the same way Legent mixes Japanese blending techniques with American distilling traditions,” says Todd Snyder. “As we celebrate the intersection of East and West with this partnership, we also want to take a moment to acknowledge the challenges faced by many in the Asian American and Pacific Islander community over the past several months and work to put an end to these terrible acts of hatred.”
Since launching in 2019, Legent has changed the landscape of the bourbon category. A product of two whisk(e)y legends, Legent is expertly distilled by Fred Noe, seventh-generation Master Distiller of Jim Beam, bourbon's pioneering family, and artfully blended by Shinji Fukuyo, fifth-ever Chief Blender of Suntory, the founding house of Japanese whisky. The award-winning bourbon* brings together the best of the East and West unlike any other, resulting in a perfectly balanced yet complex and layered whiskey with a bright, smooth, unexpectedly long finish.
“As a brand that is rooted in melding the best of Japanese and American craftsmanship, we are fully committed, along with Todd Snyder, to not only be celebrating but also standing behind the AAPI community, especially during this time of increased violence and racism,” says Victoria Russell, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer at Beam Suntory. “While we recognize that there is still a lot of work to be done to end xenophobia and bigotry towards the AAPI community, we are hopeful that impactful organizations like Stop AAPI Hate will make a difference in putting an end to the horrible acts of discrimination this community is facing.”
Legent is available in 750mL (47% abv / 94 proof) in select markets throughout the United States and via online retailers including Reserve Bar for a suggested retail price of $39.99 USD.

12 May 2021 - Beam Suntory, a world leader in premium spirits, has closed an agreement with Edrington, the international ultra-premium spirits company, to acquire 100% of Maxxium Spain through an equity swap. The agreement will be effective 2nd August 2021, subject to regulatory approval. With this transaction, Beam Suntory will assume full ownership of Maxxium Spain and Edrington will assume full ownership of Edrington-Beam Suntory UK. This will be the first time that Beam Suntory will have full ownership of its Route to Market in Spain.
This decision follows more than a decade of successful partnership between Beam Suntory and Edrington across several markets, including equal ownership of JV distribution businesses in the UK, Spain and Russia. Both companies believe that this is the right time to transition their distribution businesses in Spain and the UK from a JV structure to a fully owned structure. This will allow both businesses to reduce complexity, improve agility, make decisive investments and expand opportunities for employees as both businesses become part of larger international companies.
Maxxium Spain and Edrington-Beam Suntory UK will continue to distribute their current full portfolios of both Beam Suntory and Edrington brands. It is expected that Maxxium Spain’s corporate brand will transition to a new corporate brand in January 2022 to more closely align Beam Suntory, and details regarding those plans will be announced in due course.
For Beam Suntory, Spain is a strategic hub and the home of its International headquarters, with corporate offices in Madrid and Jerez. Spain is also a key growth market for its portfolio of premium global brands, including Jim Beam and Roku. Beam Suntory’s Segovia distillery also produces renowned Spanish brands, Larios, Whisky DYC, and Anís Castellana. Meanwhile, Maxxium Spain has established itself as a leading spirits distributor over its 20-year history and has built category leadership positions across its portfolio, which now includes four of Spain’s best-selling brands: Brugal, DYC, Larios and Centenario. Together, Beam Suntory and Maxxium Spain will employ more than 600 people across the country.
Edrington and Beam Suntory will maintain their strong partnership, including distribution agreements across several global markets, which will now include Spain and the UK. Both companies will also maintain equal stakes in their remaining JV distribution business, Maxxium Russia. Suntory Holdings’ 10% equity stake in Edrington is unaffected by this transaction.
Pryce Greenow, President International & Global Sales Excellence Officer, Beam Suntory commented: “Despite the challenges faced by our industry in 2020, Beam Suntory has a great deal of confidence in the fundamental strength of our business in Spain. We intend to invest in building our premium brands, including Jim Beam, Roku, Larios and DYC, as well as in our commercial capabilities to accelerate Maxxium Spain’s growth. We will be focused on key strategic priorities like eCommerce, daytime consumption and tourism, as well as working closely with our on-trade partners to support a swift and sustained recovery of Spain’s all-important hospitality industry.
“We have worked with our Maxxium Spain colleagues for many years as our JV partners, and we are proud to welcome them into our global business. Given Beam Suntory’s deep roots in Spain and our many years of collaboration, we believe that bringing both businesses together will prove a natural fit, and that both companies will benefit from fully joining forces.”
Mark Pockele, General Manager of Maxxium Spain, added: "We are proud to become part of Beam Suntory’s global business. Beam Suntory has always shown great commitment to and understanding of the Spanish market, and we believe that this simplified ownership structure will allow us to accelerate growth in our traditional areas of strength, as well as exploring new opportunities as we navigate the post-COVID recovery. We are delighted that Edrington will continue to invest in this market and be a part of our business, and we look forward to continuing to grow their portfolio in Spain.”
Huw Pennell, Edrington’s Regional Managing Director for Europe, said: “As our business sharpens its focus on the growing opportunities for ultra-premium spirits, we are pleased that this agreement will enable us to continue to work closely with the excellent Maxxium Spain team in Madrid to accelerate the growth of our portfolio.
“Spain is the number one international market for Brugal rum outside the Dominican Republic, and the cities of Madrid and Barcelona are key cities for The Macallan. We are excited about the opportunities for our portfolio under the management of the talented Maxxium Spain team.”

(CHICAGO) May 4, 2021 – This spring, Jim Beam® is shaking up the canned beverage aisle by launching two ready-to-drink cocktails made with a bourbon base: the Jim Beam® Classic Highball and the Jim Beam® Ginger Highball. The canned cocktails are the latest innovation from the world’s No. 1 bourbon that offers drinkers a refreshing, convenient alternative to beer – the perfect drink for cookouts, BBQs, tailgates, sports viewing (when and where safe) and more this summer.
The Jim Beam Classic Highball combines Jim Beam Bourbon, bubbly seltzer and a hint of citrus for ultimate refreshment. London, March 2021 // This April, in association with Sotheby’s Hong Kong, Bowmore® Islay Single Malt Whisky will offer a rare opportunity to acquire a unique collector’s item; the Bowmore Archive Cabinet. Containing all five releases of the iconic Black Bowmore spanning from 1993 to 2016, the bespoke art piece is expected to reach in the region of £400,000 (HK$4,000,000 / US$500,000). Proceeds raised from the auction will go directly to the Islay Development Initiative (IDI) to ensure a lasting legacy at the home of the Bowmore distillery.
Designed by designer and master craftsman John Galvin, the Archive Cabinet captures the true heart and soul of Islay and the Bowmore Distillery. With an impressive career in innovative design, Galvin’s award-winning visionary style has resulted in piece that merges both traditional cabinetmaking with creative techniques. Taking inspiration from his time on Islay and made by hand over two years, the Archive Cabinet uses materials that can be found throughout the distillery, creating a true legacy piece.
A fundamental factor in its creation was ensuring the Cabinet, itself a beacon of its island home, would ‘give back’ to Islay by supporting young people living in the town of Bowmore. The ground-breaking Bowmore Legacy project will see the proceeds utilised to support the employability, training and housing needs of Bowmore’s young people, enabling a range of vital outcomes from affordable and supported housing to key employment skills for young people with barriers to employment. The key goal of the Bowmore Legacy is to futureproof the island’s distilling industry for tomorrow by investing in young people’s needs today.
Robert Smith, Chairman of Islay Development Initiative, “We are excited, honoured and extremely proud to have been chosen to deliver the Bowmore Legacy project. IDI will make sure this Legacy will have the sustainability of Islay, her young people and her community at its heart to deliver long term benefit – a true Legacy for a one of a kind collection of Black Bowmore.”
David Turner, Distillery Manager commented "Black Bowmore truly defines the spirit of our distillery, but more than that, the spirit of Islay. The journey of this exceptional whisky and the evolution of the distillery as inextricably linked in the past, today and long into the future and this remarkable Archive Cabinet truly brings this heritage to life in a totally unique way. About the Bowmore Archive Cabinet
Celebrating the pioneering spirit of Bowmore, each detail of the Cabinet tells a story of time and evolution. From the striking black exterior reflective of the stone strata of Islay to the charred ripples inspired not only by the surrounding water of Islay, but also the distinctive appearance of the No.1 Vaults, every element is connected back to the distillery.
The former Bowmore spirit safe, first used in 1924, has been repurposed on the base of the Cabinet whilst the brass levers take pride of place on the front. These levers themselves are marked with the unique fingerprints of every individual who played their part on the creation of the spirit over the course of its life at Bowmore.
Inside the cabinet, the hand-patinaed copper captures the natural ageing of Bowmore’s own copper stills and kettles, shaped and aged over time by the unique island environment. The use of washback wood for the drawers shows the iron band marking still intact, coupled with the captivating aroma embedded in this material for eternity.
Within the Cabinet, solid brass coasters accompany six hand- made glasses, each representing the life stages of Bowmore through distinctive and individual colour. Housed in the lower drawer is a sketch pad telling the story of the Cabinet’s creation captured by John Galvin.
Created through the process of battuto, a complex hand carving process, five striking glass pillars act as plinths within the Cabinet to elevate and display each of the bottles. Crafted by the master craftsmen of Glasstorm, a bespoke contemporary glass studio, based in North East Scotland, the glass pillars have been made using traditional glass-making techniques with handmade tools. The magnificent structures each tell the individual story of each maturation journey for Black Bowmore. Moving from clear glass through a spectrum of colours, each representing the passing of time of spirit in cask.
THE WHISKY
Black Bowmore was distilled in 1964 and the spirit was filled into oak casks previously used for maturing sweet Oloroso sherry and transferred to the No. 1 vaults at one of Scotland’s oldest maturation warehouses. Hidden in a special location, this was the perfect environment for long maturation. Capturing decades of character, this collection celebrates this sublimely rich and decadent single malt which defines the heart of Bowmore.
Black Bowmore was initially released in 1993 as a 29-year-old, with further releases of a 30 year old and 31 year old over the following two years. It appeared as part of a trilogy in 2007 (42 year old), and finally in 2016 as “the last cask” (50 year old).
Initially sold for £100, Black Bowmore became one of the most sought-after whiskies in the world for its tropical fruit flavour and the legacy continues today; a whisky that offers an experience like no other, in its alignment of concentration of colour and fragrance, intensity and subtlety, balanced smoke and fruit.

ABOUT BOWMORE
Founded in 1779, Bowmore is the oldest distillery of its kind on Islay. Our Scotch maturation warehouse is one of the oldest in the world, and our handcrafted single malt whisky is defined by time and inspired by its home place.
Time is defining at Bowmore, and we tirelessly harness the power of time to shape our whiskies. Our distillery’s adherence to traditional production methods helps to shape the character of our fruity and smoky single malts. Today, we are amongst one of a few distilleries which still produces its own floor malted barley, hand-turned by a traditional wooden malt shovel and hand drawn machinery. Water for the whiskies is specially drawn from the Laggan River, with its rich peaty overtones – the same Islay peat that fires the malt-drying kiln.
Bowmore Distillery's proximity to the sea is also vital in determining the final character of its spirit and gives a hint of sea air to the character. The legendary Bowmore No. 1 Vaults, which sit below sea level, is where many of the whiskies spend their long lives resting quietly in the cool, dark, damp cellars, oblivious to the waves thrashing the vault's sea-facing wall.
Matured in oak casks, previously used for bourbon, sherry or claret, over time developing rich and mellow flavours until the expertise of our whisky makers deems them ready for bottling. It is this combination of peat, barley, sea breeze, water, wood, people and tradition that makes Bowmore the exceptional single malt it is today.
Time is marked on each and every bottle of Bowmore, proudly and boldly as a marker of where and when each one’s journey began. This is our story of time. This is Bowmore; the Art of Time since 1779.

Hornitos® Tequila has a history of breaking tradition dating back to 1950 when founder Don Francisco launched the brand in honor of Mexican Independence Day. The Hornitos family of tequilas keeps Don Francisco's legacy alive, using the same high standards to cultivate the best and most flavorful agaves, molding them into premium tequilas that everyone can enjoy. 70 years later, Hornitos inspires its fans to adopt the same boundary-pushing mindset through its "A Shot Worth Taking" campaign that highlights the extraordinary things that can happen when people are willing to take a chance. Since the inception of "A Shot Worth Taking" in 2017, Hornitos has empowered fans to take their shot and provided funds and opportunities to make their aspirations achievable.
