Honoring the brands’ shared commitment to the art of craftsmanship, the Knob Creek x Smithey 18x Seasoned Limited Edition Cast Iron Skillet Set celebrates the re-release of Knob Creek® 18 Year Old Bourbon
CLERMONT, KY - October 20, 2023 - Knob Creek®, a leader in the Small Batch Bourbon category, announces a partnership with Smithey Ironware, premium manufacturer of artisanal cookware, to create a limited edition high-quality cast iron skillet. To celebrate the re-release of Knob Creek 18 Year Old Bourbon, the skillet is seasoned 18 times, 15 times more than Smithey’s traditional skillets, creating a naturally non-stick cast iron with a rich, deep copper color and easy-to-clean finish.
“Knob Creek fans appreciate the quality of intentional workmanship, and we’re excited to re-release our extra-aged Knob Creek 18 Year Old for a limited time,” said Seventh Generation Master Distiller Fred Noe. “The partnership between Knob Creek and Smithey Ironware came from the passion that both brands have for the details, whether it’s with cooking or in a fine glass of bourbon. With this special 18x seasoned cast iron skillet, we were able to come together and create a product that celebrates those fine details, alongside the re-release of Knob Creek's oldest release to date.”
Savoring the aging process, Knob Creek transforms as it matures in its oak barrels and a cast iron’s performance improves as layers of seasoning builds with each use. Aged twice as long as its flagship bourbon, Knob Creek 18 Year Old is a complex yet balanced bourbon with deep flavors of caramelized oak and sweet vanilla with a warm finish. Just like the deep flavors that are developed when cooking with a cast iron skillet, Knob Creek 18 Year Old has exceptional full flavor.
“The partnership between Knob Creek and Smithey came together seamlessly. Both brands stand on the pillar of detailed craftsmanship, so creating a product together that demonstrates that was only right,” said Smithey Ironware Founder, Isaac Morton. “We’re excited to offer this exclusive cast iron skillet to compliment the 18 years that Knob Creek’s expertly aged, limited edition bourbon, and we know culinary and bourbon fans alike will really appreciate what we’ve designed together.”
For home cooks and bourbon aficionados, Knob Creek and Smithey Ironware worked with Brian Landry, Executive Chef The Kitchen Table, QED Hospitality, to create three unique recipes with the 18x seasoned cast iron skillet in mind. Each dish incorporates Knob Creek expressions as an integral ingredient and highlights the whiskey’s robust flavors, giving fans the opportunity to experience the ultimate sipping and savoring experience. These recipes will be available with purchase of the Knob Creek x Smithey Cast Iron Skillet Set at https://smithey.com/products/knob-creek-x-smithey-18x-seasoned-cast-iron-skillet-set.
For those looking to experience artisanal craftsmanship, the Knob Creek x Smithey 18x Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet Set is here just in time for the holidays. Starting on October 20, the set will be available in limited quantities at https://smithey.com/products/knob-creek-x-smithey-18x-seasoned-cast-iron-skillet-set, for $300.00. About Knob Creek® Bourbon
Knob Creek has set the standard for super-premium whiskey for three decades by crafting extraordinary full- flavored bourbon with a rich taste. Knob Creek bourbons and ryes are patiently aged to perfection in new, maximum charred American Oak barrels to impart the biggest and fullest flavor on our whiskey. No matter the expression, Knob Creek is crafted without shortcuts and embodies the pre-Prohibition style that founding distiller Booker Noe created in 1992. In recent years, Knob Creek announced the permanent addition of Knob Creek 12 Year Old Bourbon to its portfolio, launched two limited releases, Knob Creek 15 Year Old Bourbon and Knob Creek 18 Year Old Bourbon, and announced the addition of an age statement to its flagship rye whiskey, Knob Creek 7 Year Old Rye Whiskey.

Elements 1.0 is a look behind the scenes of what makes Laphroaig iconic with a privileged glimpse into the whisky-making process
Islay, 17th October 2023: Islay distillery Laphroaig today unveils Elements, a new series that delves into the artistry of production that makes Laphroaig’s whisky so richly flavoured and characterful.
To create Elements 1.0, the Laphroaig distillery team were given free rein to produce something unexpected that embodies the traditional Laphroaig profile, while adding new dimensions of flavour.
Three experiments have been brought together to create this unique whisky. Firstly, the combination of a cloudy and semi-cloudy wort brings forward more tropical fruit notes, without compromising on the signature peat that makes Laphroaig so richly flavoured. Secondly, the distillers used both an 8.5-tonne and an 11-tonne mash, combining the past and the present of distillery production norms. And finally, the whisky uses 100% Islay malt, capturing the essence of the distillery’s home in a way rarely seen in Laphroaig spirit.
Once combined, these three experiments create a whisky that is distinctly Laphroaig but with a unique twist. Fresh sea salt, smoky bacon and charred pineapple on the nose lead to a palate of peppery spice, tropical fruits and liquorice. On the finish, the famous peatiness of Laphroaig shines with a lingering sweetness.
Barry MacAffer, distillery manager for Laphroaig, commented, “Elements is a series that we hope will give our Friends a peek into the art and science of making Laphroaig. Our distillery profile is so iconic and we always want to retain this as the heart of every bottle, while allowing room to experiment and innovate. This first release showcases the raw materials we use in our whisky, especially the 100% Islay malt. As an Islay native this is an extra exciting whisky that I think will bring a little bit of our rugged island to Friends around the world.”
As the series evolves, each expression will feature a series of easter eggs on pack that catalogues the experiments that have gone into making each bottle and the hands behind them, allowing drinkers an unrivalled glimpse into the artistry and science of the whisky-making process.
This is the first expression in the series with more to follow in 2024. Available from select specialist retailers.
Bottled at 58.6% ABV
Nose: Fresh sea salt, smoky bacon with notes of strawberry jam and charred pineapple in addition to bonfire embers
Palate: Spicy and peppery with hints of tropical fruit, cloves and liquorice
Finish: Warming and smoky, leading to a sweet, drying and long peated finished

The Mundial Collection Celebrates El Tesoro’s Tradition of Craftsmanship by Partnering with Like-Minded Distillers from Around the World to Offer Novel, Rare Tequila
New York, NY – (October 16, 2023) – El Tesoro de Don Felipe® Tequila, the award-winning Tequila producer from La Alteña Distillery in the Jalisco highlands of Mexico, and the third-generation Camarena distilling family, are proud to introduce the second installment of “The Mundial Collection” Limited Edition Cask Finishing Series: El Tesoro® Mundial: Knob Creek® Rye Edition.
El Tesoro® Mundial: Knob Creek Rye is a unique expression of El Tesoro® Añejo, aged for twelve months in genuine charred-oak Knob Creek Rye Whiskey barrels that previously held Knob Creek Rye Whiskey for seven years, resulting in a delicious sipping Tequila that is perfectly balanced with subtle sweetness and spice. As a special one-time release, this is the first and only time El Tesoro® has been finished in Knob Creek Rye Barrels.
“We are thrilled to introduce this exceptional new Tequila, produced at our home in La Alteña with barrels so generously provided in the spirit of innovation by our friends at Knob Creek®,” says Jenny Camarena, third generation family proprietor and master of operations for El Tesoro®. “My brother Carlos and I are the students of our father and grandfather before us, who were both proud Tequila traditionalists, yet pioneers of their time who were always experimenting. The Mundial Collection allows us to pursue these creative paths in Tequila, and the Knob Creek® Rye edition is no different. The way that our delicate Añejo marries with the amazing full bodied, balanced black pepper, sweet vanilla and rich spice flavors of the rye casks makes this fascinating Tequila a delicious treat that we are incredibly proud to share.”
The Mundial Collection represents a premium innovation and experimentation initiative for El Tesoro®. “Mundial” expressions see one-of-a-kind special releases of El Tesoro® Tequilas matured in unique casks that have previously held some of the best spirits from across the globe, all of which share a strong commitment to craftsmanship and high-quality production. The first installment, released in 2021, was El Tesoro® Mundial Collection: The Laphroaig® Edition, a remarkable bottling merging the proud distilling tradition of Tequila with the barrel-aging expertise of Scotch. El Tesoro® Mundial Collection: The Laphroaig Edition skillfully integrates the peaty profile of an Islay whisky with El Tesoro’s® rich, agave Añejo, aged for twelve months in genuine Laphroaig ten-year-old Scotch Whisky casks, adding hints of salty ocean air and peat smoke for a truly distinctive Tequila.
Back by popular demand and following the success of the initial release, Carlos and Jenny Camarena are excited to release another iteration of “Mundial” aged in Laphraoig casks. This year, El Tesoro® Mundial Collection: The Laphroaig Edition will be available alongside the El Tesoro® Mundial Collection: Knob Creek Rye Edition with updated premium gift packaging. ABOUT BOWMORE®
For over 240 years, the Bowmore Distillery has been capturing the essence of Islay from the shores of its remote island home. Shaped by centuries of skill and tradition, Bowmore’s single malt harnesses the power of this time in every single drop, defined by the past and savoured in the present.
Time is defining at Bowmore® and we tirelessly harness the power of time to shape our whiskies. Our distillery’s adherence to traditional production methods helps to shape the character of our fruity and smoky single malts. Today, we are amongst one of a few distilleries which still produces its own floor malted barley, hand-turned by a traditional wooden malt shovel and hand drawn machinery. Water for the whiskies is specially drawn from the Laggan River, with its rich peaty overtones – the same Islay peat that fires the malt-drying kiln.
Bowmore distillery's proximity to the sea is also vital in determining the final character of its spirit and gives a hint of sea air to the character. The legendary Bowmore® No. 1 Vaults is where most of the whiskies spend their long lives resting quietly in the cool, dark, damp cellars below sea level, oblivious to the waves thrashing the vault's sea-facing wall.
Matured in oak casks, previously used for bourbon, sherry, or claret, over time developing rich and mellow flavours until the expertise of our whisky makers deems them ready for bottling. It is this combination of peat, barley, sea breeze, water, wood, people, and tradition that makes Bowmore the exceptional single malt it is today.
Time is marked on each and every bottle of Bowmore, proudly and boldly as a marker of where and when each one’s journey began. This is our story of time. This is Bowmore; the Art of Time since 1779.

About Basil Hayden
Crafted in 1992 by Booker Noe as part of the Small Batch collection, Basil Hayden introduced a more subtle side of bourbon compared to its counterparts. Inspired by bourbons with high-rye mash bills, Booker set out to create a bourbon that would offer an approachable taste profile and defy preconceived bourbon perceptions. Basil Hayden Bourbon welcomes new drinkers into whiskey and showcases new occasions to drink it. Beyond its flagship Basil Hayden Bourbon, the brand has pushed the boundaries of innovation in recent years. These intriguing offerings have included expressions such as Basil Hayden Toast, Dark Rye, 10-Year, Subtle Smoke and the new, limited time release of Basil Hayden Red Wine Cask Finish.
