Martin joins as the company looks to build on its strong foundations and further accelerate its long-term DEI commitments.

“Many people I work with would be surprised to know that I am a 2023 World Masters cycling champion, holding a gold medal for Women’s team competition in my age group and a silver medal for the Women’s individual competition in my age group. I have a real passion for cycling, a passion which began at a young age. Both parents and my older brother all cycled and, inspired by my older brother’s achievements in local road races and from watching the Tour de France, I asked my parents if I could have his ‘old and rusty’ bike as a gift for my 16th birthday.  

Naively, I thought that perhaps I could easily follow in his footsteps having been gifted his Flying Scot bike: my plan was to do a little training, join the local cycling club and start racing; however, I quickly discovered that the local club didn’t allow girls. Undeterred, I decided to ask my brother for some advice only to be told that bike racing wasn’t for girls – it was too tough a sport.     

While these setbacks did prevent me from taking up the sport competitively in my earlier years, as my athletic confidence and tenacity grew through my university days, my passion for cycling never wavered. So, post university, I found a cycling club who embraced my desire to race and before long I was selected to ride for my country (Scotland).  

Since those early days of racing, I’ve learned so much from the sport, with many aspects being transferable into the business world: the importance of setting clear goals, having a robust plan in order to achieve those goals, building a strong team and support network of people who are open to listen and learn from each other, problem solving when things don’t quite go to plan, and continually seeking ways to improve, never settling for the status quo. As the Director of Innovation for Scotch & Irish, I use a similar mindset to the one I used in sport to motivate and lead my team in the business. 

While my journey hasn’t been without some bumps on the road, I genuinely believe that the learnings from any obstacles I’ve faced, coupled with all of the incredibly supportive people in my life, have in equal measures helped shape both the athlete and business professional I am today.”

Company enters into a binding agreement related to proposed sale of Courvoisier brand to Campari Group

NEW YORK, Dec. 14, 2023 – Beam Suntory, a world leader in premium spirits, announced today that it has entered into an exclusive agreement related to the proposed sale of the Courvoisier cognac brand and related assets to Campari Group. The sale would be Beam Suntory’s latest step in transforming the company in service of its long-term ambition to become the World’s Most Admired Premium Spirits Company. 

“We are proud to have nurtured the iconic Courvoisier brand for nearly 20 years, investing in its growth across key global markets and transforming it into a symbol of modern luxury and an industry leader in awards and sustainability,” said Greg Hughes, President and CEO of Beam Suntory. “The brand is very well positioned for its next chapter of growth, and we are confident that Campari would be the right partner to take Courvoisier into the future. This move would allow us to further focus our portfolio on our core areas of strength as we accelerate our global growth ambitions.”

Under the terms of the agreement, Campari Group would assume full ownership of Courvoisier, including properties and operations in Jarnac, France, intellectual property, maturing inventory and case finished goods, and would distill, age and bottle Courvoisier. Pending employee consultations, and other regulatory approvals, the transaction is expected to close in 2024, subject to customary closing conditions.

Beam Suntory joins the ranks of 545 major U.S. businesses that also earned top marks this year, and this is the third consecutive year the company has been recognized for its efforts to advance inclusion.

JARNAC, France, 6, November, 2023 – Maison Courvoisier, the Most Awarded Cognac House*, has earned the esteemed Butterfly Mark, a certification given to luxury brands that meet rigorous standards in sustainability, social practices and governance.

Issued by luxury sustainability organization, Positive Luxury, Courvoisier received an overall score of 72, which is 44 percent above the benchmark score of 50, as a result of the brand’s positive change across environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives. This is the second highest score among Positive Luxury’s large clients that have been awarded the certification.  

The Butterfly Mark was created by Positive Luxury, a UK-based company that works with brands to assess their practices and help companies re-define business models to create positive change. The creation of the Butterfly Mark aims to provide consumers with a recognizable symbol that signifies they can trust the brand behind the product they are purchasing. Companies who have earned the Butterfly Mark are assessed every two years by Positive Luxury to maintain the certification.

• ● The brand follows strict practices to protect biodiversity and to mitigate its impact on the local environment. Maison Courvoisier’s estate is certified by the French government’s “La Haute Valeur Environnementale,” the highest environmental and biodiversity-based government certification standard. 
• ● Community involvement and support is critical to Courvoisier. The brand’s philanthropic platform, Foundation 1828 aims to empower small business owners and entrepreneurs in underserved populations around the world. In 2020, Foundation 1828 pledged to donate $1 million over five years toward supporting black and minority small business owners and entrepreneurs in the U.S. Additionally, Courvoisier has established a local partnership with L’Arche, a non-profit organization working to create networks of community where people with and without intellectual disabilities live and work together. This partnership includes offering various employment opportunities to members as well as collaborating on initiatives and events centered in the Cognac community.

Tres Generaciones® Celebrates its 50th Anniversary and 150 Years of Tequila-Making from Three Generations of the Sauza Family and One of the Great Houses of Tequila

New York, NY – (November 6, 2023) - Tres Generaciones®, a premium tequila rooted in the spirit of perseverance, today unveiled its 50th Anniversary Añejo, the third bottle in the brand’s Legacy Edition Series of tequilas. The new liquid is a unique expression paying homage to Don Francisco Javier Sauza’s original recipe, which he crafted 50 years ago to create a tequila masterpiece celebrating three generations of distilling at La Perseverancia distillery. 

Today, the brand celebrates its genesis with the 2023 Tres Generaciones® Añejo using the very same recipe of Don Francisco’s legendary tequila, which is rumored to be the first Añejo tequila ever produced. The 50th Anniversary Añejo is displayed in a limited edition, green ceramic bottle inspired by the Dons’ original 1973 decanter that put tequila on the world stage with other premium spirits of the era. 

The 50th Anniversary Edition marks the brand’s debut of prestige tequila. This Añejo tequila starts with 100% Blue Weber Agave, which is slow roasted in masonry ovens, tahona crushed, double distilled in copper pot stills, and then patiently aged fourteen months in seven-year-old American White Oak barrels. These barrels are specially selected and treated with an in-house charring process to enhance the essence and craftmanship of this rare release. The result is a deep amber 45% ABV Añejo that is ultra-smooth with warmth and slight smokiness in each sip.

“Collectively, my family has been in the Spirits industry for nearly 100 years. My dad started working at the James B. Beam Distilling Co. (JBBDCo.) in 1970 in the general labor pool, and retired in 2014, with almost 44 years under his belt after a successful career in many jobs at JBBDCo.  My mom, who works at another Kentucky distillery, has been working in this industry for over 45 years. Like Fred and Freddie Noe, you could say working in the whiskey industry is a family tradition. Growing up in Bardstown, KY – “The Bourbon Capital of the World”, I’ve known the Noe family all my life, and I was fortunate enough to have known Booker Noe back in the day as well. For me, JBBDCo. is like a second home. 

I started working at Beam Suntory after my dad retired. With a background in digital and content strategy, I help bring our brands to life through my camera, which often end up on websites, billboards, and advertisements across Kentucky and beyond. I get a real sense of pride when I’m driving around and see one of my photographs on the side of a building or on a billboard. I’m honored to be a second-generation employee, storyteller, and custodian of such a great legacy for the Beam family. Through the lens of my camera, I get a front row seat to history each day at Beam Suntory.

For nearly a decade, I’ve witnessed Fred, and now Freddie, continue their family legacy. It’s amazing to see the impact they’ve had on this place.
