What is your leadership philosophy?
Todd: Prioritize business needs and provide team members the tools to be successful.
What was your first job?
Todd: My numerous student jobs included bagging groceries, selling shoes, trimming trees and “cutting cups” at the local country club. When I began studying law I was fortunate to have rewarding externship opportunities with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Delaware Supreme Court and the London Inns of Court.
What do you like to do with your free time outside of work? Hobbies etc.
Todd: I am a proud “FUNcle” to 16 nieces and nephews, including six “greats.” They help keep me in touch with what’s hip and trending outside my office walls.
My wife and I are long-time mentors with LINK Unlimited, Chicago’s only college and career success organization focused solely on African American youth. We also volunteer with Urban Initiatives, a program empowering youth across Chicago to become community leaders through academic success, healthy living and social-emotional learning.
As for hobbies, becoming a scratch golfer has been a long-time pursuit. I’m not there yet but enjoying the journey. Even while occasionally breaking my heart, the Iowa Hawkeye Football Team brings joy to Saturdays in the fall.
If you could have drinks with any person (living or dead) who would you choose?
Todd: Abraham Lincoln. I would like to hear every detail of his journey from a modest upbringing to leading a country through political and moral crisis.
What’s your Beam drink of choice?
Todd: Jim Beam Black on the rocks. Of course, if you ask me next week the answer could be different. It’s wonderful to have so many quality choices in our portfolio.
How do you Unleash your Spirit?
Todd: From Seed to Sip, my team is presented with some of the most significant opportunities and challenges across the global business. It is energizing to embrace that responsibility and an honor to be custodians for brands with such deep heritage and tradition.
