David Hunter serves as Senior Vice President, Chief Supply Chain Officer of Beam Suntory, the world’s third-largest premium spirits company. Appointed to this role in 2016, Hunter is responsible for Beam Suntory’s global operations, including 19 distilleries and bottling plants, as well as the company's supply chain, procurement and quality functions. Hunter and his team of 2,000 employees produce more than 50 million cases of spirits every year that are sold in more than 100 countries worldwide.
Prior to this role, Hunter served as Beam Suntory’s Vice President of Manufacturing for three years. In that role, he was responsible for all manufacturing operations, maturing inventory warehousing and spirits processing facilities throughout the world.
Hunter joined Beam Suntory in July 2007 as leader of the company’s International Operations, encompassing all manufacturing operations outside of North America. Hunter’s experience in the spirits industry began in 1996 when he joined the Scotch Whisky business of Allied Domecq Plc. Prior to joining the spirits industry, Hunter spent 11 years in the chemical industry working for ICI Plc at various locations in the UK.
Hunter holds a Bachelor of Science, 1st Class Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Glasgow. He is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in the UK and a Member of the Institute of Brewing and Distilling.
