Chief Operating Officer

Albert Baladi serves as Chief Operating Officer and President, Americas at Beam Suntory, the world’s third largest premium spirits company. Baladi joined Beam Suntory in March 2011 as President, EMEA and became President of the International region, combining EMEA and Asia Pacific markets, in 2015. Baladi is a proven business leader with a highly diverse background encompassing nearly 30 years international business, operations, brand and marketing experience for several public world-renowned consumer companies. Prior to joining Beam, Baladi served as Managing Director, South Pacific, for Yum! Restaurants International in Sydney, Australia. In this position, he led their $1.5 billion retail sales business across more than 1,000 KFC and Pizza Hut locations in Australia and New Zealand. Prior to this position, he served in 2007 as Chief Operations and Development Officer in Dallas, Texas. Prior to joining Yum!, Baladi worked in the beverage industry for PepsiCo International from 1994 – 2007 in various marketing and general manager roles with increasing responsibility. His final position with PepsiCo from 2004 – 2007 was General Manager, Pepsi-Lipton International, with operations in over 30 countries. From 1987 – 1993, Baladi worked for Procter & Gamble in a variety of marketing and brand management positions, based in Switzerland and France. Baladi holds a preparatory degree from the Ecole Polytechnique Lausanne and received his business degree from HEC Lausanne, both located in Switzerland. His two daughters attend university in Boston and New York. He and his wife, Rana, are based in Chicago.

What is your leadership philosophy?

Albert: Leadership is about inspiring and helping the organization to succeed.

What was your first job?

Albert: Fishing sea urchins at the age of 12 and selling them on the beach for pocket money.

What do you like to do with your free time outside of work? Hobbies etc.

Albert: In addition to traveling and discovering new places with my family, I exercise regularly and occasionally participate in triathlons.

What’s your Beam drink of choice?

Albert: Maker’s Mark Mint Julip.

If you could have drinks with any person (living or dead) who would you choose?

Albert: Nelson Mandela. His wisdom and courageous leadership are very inspiring.

How do you Unleash your Spirit?

Albert: With the rest of the International team, we are building the ‘defining global region’ for Beam Suntory and Suntory Holdings. We develop winning brands and markets across borders and locally. We develop world-class talent who outperform the competition. We chase growth with a Yatte Minahare spirit and remain true to the Beam Suntory values.
