What is your leadership philosophy?
Vince: As a leader, I see my role as encompassing much more than the achievement of our organizational goals. For me, leadership is first and foremost about creating the culture and conditions to enable those around me to elevate their skills, confidence, impact and general sense of well-being. In doing so, I have been energized as I watch individuals enhance their contribution to the company, grow as true leaders in their own right, and ultimately achieve their personal objectives. While my leadership philosophy has been relatively consistent over time, I have constantly challenged myself to learn from others and look for fresh ways to lead and inspire individuals based on their unique situations and personal ambitions. Leadership is a never ending journey, which when done selflessly, can lead to great outcomes for many.
What was your first job?
Vince: My first real job was working at a bar in college. I did everything from cleaning floors to delivering kegs to tending bar. No matter what the job, I was told by my manager that our mission was to “promote fun” for our guests. It’s a simple message that still resonates with me when I entertain friends, family and colleagues today.
What do you like to do with your free time outside of work? Hobbies etc.
Vince: Most of my free time is spent hanging out with my wife, four kids and family dog. It’s great fun, and there’s never a dull moment! However, I do like to find time when I can to sneak away for a quiet jog along the lake or a swim in a warm pool.
If you could have drinks with any person (living or dead) who would you choose?
Vince: I would raise a glass with Vince Lombardi, and bring my father along with me, to share stories and learn from his unique style of coaching and leadership.
What’s your Beam drink of choice?
Vince: I discovered my latest drink of choice at a small tequila bar in Tokyo. To my surprise, the bartender served me a Hornitos Black Barrel high ball, stirred with just tequila, soda, and ice and then poured into a chilled glass, topped with a lime. For me, it’s the perfect drink!
How do you Unleash your Spirit?
Vince: Since returning to Beam Suntory in January, I have been positively inspired by those around me at all levels, locations and functions. The spirit of collaboration and innovation at Beam Suntory is amazing!
